The tour is a half day tour which starts as early as 8:00 AM and returns to town around 1:00 PM. Drive time to Xunantunich twenty minutes from San Ignacio Town on the George Price Highway and stops at the village of San Jose Succotz.

Detailed Description
First of all to get across,we board a hand-cranked ferry, which would get everyone across the Mopan River and then the drive continues, one mile to the site.
Xunantunich means “Stone Woman”. A combination of Mopan and Yucatec Maya language. In addition the site it sits on a limestone ridge, less than one mile above the rushing waters of the Mopan River. Within the village of San Jose Succotz village over looking the Belize river valley. Site’s epicenter consists of four (4) major architectural groups. Most prominent being group A, which is dominated by a 40 meter structure known as “El Castillo”.The second tallest man-made structure in Belize. This massive multi-complex building served as dwelling,a shrine and administrative hub for the elite rulers.The eastern and western summit of “El Castillo” has large stucco friezes with carved elements that primarily represent astronomical symbols. Xunantunich was first explored in 1894 & 1895, and Excavations began as early as 1938.
