Detailed Description

You will start the tour from the road of the Visitors Center, there will be the Mountain Trails mini coach and you will go to Wicklow at 10:30 AM. You will discover paths covered with grass, mountains and beautiful views all the way. You will continue along the forest paths as you ascend gradually before opening up to the open moors.

Then, you will take a mountain path, before reaching the eastern summit of Brockagh at 471 meters. After enjoying the wonderful views you will descend through a pleasant grassy path into the forest and follow part of the Wicklow route to the monastic town of Glendalough.

Next, you'll make a short stop on the Glendasan River a short distance before heading uphill on a forest trail that then gradually descends into Glendalough Valley and Lake Superior. You will return to the starting point along a wooded path known as Green Road.

  1. Do you have any age limits on your trips?

If any clients are under 18 they must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. For safety reasons we are unable to take anyone under the age of 14 on our regular hikes. If you have small children and wish to book a walk then please contact us to arrange a private guiding day tailored around your needs. There is no upper age limit.

  2. How fit do I need to be?

Our day hikes are graded easy, moderate, hard and hard/strenuous:

Easy graded: walks are designed for those who do a little regular walking over undulating ground and occasionally off paths.

Moderate: walkers who are used to rough paths and manage 12 km (7½ miles) with relative ease should find the moderate graded walks suitable.

Hard graded: walks are for regular hill walkers who are used to walking for up to 6 hours and climbing up to 800 m.

Hard/strenuous graded: hikes are designed for regular hikers who are used to walking longer distances with a sustained climb of around 1000 m included.

For our weekend trips, with their multi-day format, you would need to be reasonably fit and/or a regular mountain walker. We would advise some training in the form of cycling or running, or, of course, hiking. The hikes would be of a hard or hard/strenuous grade.

  3. Do I need travel insurance when travelling to the United Kingdom?

We would advise all clients to get suitable travel insurance before taking one of our trips.
