Detailed Description
Departing from the Marina of Funchal, you will sail on a catamaran along the south coast of Madeira islands and disembark in a beach from volcanic origin.
As you arrive to Deserta Grande, the only island that can be visited, you will visit the centre to the recovery of the Monk Seal and to do a small tour, where cultural, morphological and fauna and local endemic flora aspects are displayed.
With a total area of 12,586 hectares the Natural Reserve of Desertas Islands includes all islands and islets (Ilhéu Chão, Deserta Grande, Bugio and adjacent islets) and all adjacent marine area. Being designated Nature Reserve for nearly 26 years, they are now internationally known for the conservation efforts of the endangered Monk Seal.
After exploring the island, you will return to the catamaran and enjoy the sailing on the waters of Madeira where you might see dolphins, whales and other marine animals as you return to the Marina of Funchal.
