Detailed Description

On this 3.5 hour walking food tour, you will meet your guide inside Liberty Station and from here prepare to explore, one of San Diego’s oldest military bases known as the Naval Training Center (NTC) at Liberty Station. This legendary area, where scenes from Top Gun, Battle Cry, Here Comes the Navy and more were filmed, housed 1,500 to 33,000 troops at a time during pre and post-Cold War.

Take a stroll near the San Diego Bay and hear about the only ship of its kind in existence, the USS Recruit. Marvel at the Spanish Colonial Revival style architecture while learning how the same barracks the military used over 60 years ago are being completely re-purposed today.

The Liberty Station walking food tour wouldn’t be complete without a few stops inside the newly opened Liberty Public Market & event venue. As for the bites, sergeant, Liberty Station & Liberty Public Market is a chow hall to be finely appreciated. Learn all about loose leaf tea from the tea enthusiasts, have a shot or three of 100% raw, organic cold-pressed juice, bite into world class artisan cheese, get a taste of ‘ecstasy’ from the 50/50 burger experts, and take a tour of Southern-Italy with your taste buds. At the end you can explore by yourself this amazing place.

Liberty Station Walking Tour includes:

- Route with 5 or more restaurant stops.

- Dress as you would for a lunch or picnic, keeping in mind you’ll be casually strolling for about 2 miles total.
- Our La Jolla Walking Tour is for Ages 16+. Most of our tours are 21 and up, and our tours are promoted as an adult-only activity.

Sadly, all our tours tickets are final. Many folks book far in advance and your spot is precious! Therefore, no, we’re sorry to say that we don’t do refunds either.

  1. May I bring my dog on the tour?

Oh, we love dogs, but sadly, the Health Department does not. Please leave your pooch at home. Please note, Bite San Diego is ADA complaint with service animals & emotional support animal regulations.

  2. What if I have dietary restrictions or food allergies?

Well, our tours are probably not for you. All our restaurants are partners of ours and we cannot ask them to modify samples, which are usually showcases of their best dishes. We’re sorry.

  3. Does this tour have anything to offer a native or local San Diegan?

Of course! Many of our guests live in San Diego. Locals often go on our tours to learn about the neighborhoods and the city in which they live. Besides, we don’t look like a tourist group, and we give you access to restaurants and info we’re sure you’ve never experienced or known before.

  4. Are any of your walking tours wheelchair and/or stroller accessible?

This is California, where everywhere is a place you can wheel along! (Or else you’d be sued.) So yes, bring your wheels if you normally do and ride along with us. All the surfaces we walk on are flat.
