Loch Ness & Culloden Battlefield Tour

You will visit the wonderful and emotive places in and around the Highland capital city of Inverness in a comfortable 8 seater vehicle.

The highlight, of course, is a visit to the world famous Loch Ness; a place full of mystery, where you may just catch a glimpse of one of Scotland's most famous residents, Nessie, the Loch Ness Monster. You will have views of the once mighty medieval stronghold, Urquhart Castle, a testament to the power of Clan Chiefs and Scottish Kings, that now stands as a majestic ruin on the banks of the Loch.

You will travel through the Black Isle and sample some fine single malt whisky at Glen Ord Distillery, where the locally grown barley is used to produce the uisge beatha. You will visit burgh of Beauly, from the French "beau leau", meaning "beautiful place", and the name is not wrong. Stroll through the stunning ancient ruins of Beauly Priory, or visit some of the wonderful local cafes and shops that this mediaeval burgh has to offer.

Then you will visit the Culloden Battlefield, and hear the chilling story of the conclusion of the Jacobite cause on the site where the last pitched battle fought on the British mainland took place. Afterwards, you will go back in time into prehistory and explore the ancient and atmospheric monuments at Clava Cairns. Visit the mysterious and intriguing Clootie (Cloth) Well and stand in the heart of an ancient Highland tradition, before continuing to Chanonry Point, Fortrose, where it is possible you'll catch a glimpse of a Bottlenose Dolphin or two, that live and play in the Moray Firth. This 8 hour journey will end back at the Columba Hotel.
