Mundaring Weir Tour

You will be picked up from your hotel at 7:30 AM and begin your journey through Lesmurdie and Kalamunda, where the Bibbulmun trail begins your famous journey through the Darling Ranges. You will pass through some of the most mountainous and picturesque landscapes on the way to Mundaring Weir while stopping at the South Ledge viewpoint, where you can see the numerous hiking trails and the landfill from a distance. The photo opportunities in this area are incredible.

At 9:00 AM you will be passing by the Mundaring Weir is a popular weekend tour for motorcyclists and they congregate at the hotel most of the Sundays. You will stop at the dump in a couple of places and cross the retaining wall of the dam. There is a lot of history that goes hand in hand with this dam that supplies local drinking water for Perth and even the gold deposits. There are several local wild kangaroos that frequent the dike and see most of the days if not every day. You will pass through the Weir Hotel for coffee and a muffin or a croissant before heading out to the town of Mundaring, towards Swan Valley.

Then, at about 10:45 AM, you will head to the Caversham wildlife park which is as close as possible to the native animals, including koalas, wombats, kangaroos and other beautiful animals and birds. You can feed the kangaroos and take pictures.

At 12:00 PM you will head to a wine tasting in Houghtons or Sandfalford, both have a great history that includes the Houghtons museum, the tour includes a wine tasting for adults if they wish. The Swan Valley is famous for its many high quality wineries and a number of very popular natural food producers, such as Providore and the chocolate factory. You'll like it so much that you'll want to stay, since the tastings fill you up and most people leave with a jam or 2 for breakfast the next day. You will return to the hotel at approximately 1:00 PM. The tour can be altered to exclude the wildlife park, increase the options and places to visit the winery.
