Detailed Description
You will start from the Smithwick's Experience Kilkenny factory located at 44 Parliament Street from 11:00 AM. You can make this tour at your own pace and you will use an audio guide to learn everything about the making of Irish beer.
You will hear the story of Smithwick, told as only a local knows how. Where 300 years of history are combined with extraordinary brewing innovations. You can taste a beer in addition to using your own hands to grind the malt, remove the puree and smell the hops, just as it is done in this factory.
During the tour, you will see some unusual portraits in movement and virtual monks, who were important people when creating this factory, you can visit the souvenir shop and spend a different afternoon. The end point will be at the same starting point.

Yes, there’s a complimentary pint of Smithwick’s included in the price of the tour for all visitors over the age of 18. A soft drink is included for visitors under 18. If you’d like to taste three of our most popular variants, Smithwick’s Red Ale, Smithwick’s Pale Ale, and Smithwick’s Atlantic Blonde Ale, we also offer tasting paddles at the end of your tour for just € 3.00 EUR extra. Our tasters will be on hand to talk you through the uniqueness of each of the variants.

What do you serve on tap?
We have Smithwick’s Red Ale, Smithwick’s Pale Ale, Smithwick’s Atlantic Blonde Ale, and Kilkenny beer on tap in our tasting bar, at the end of the tour. We also have soft drinks available for visitors under the age of 18.

Can I still take the tour if I do not speak English / prefer to take a tour in my native tongue?
Yes, absolutely. We offer complimentary audio guides in French, German, Spanish and Italian. This is included in the price of your tour ticket.

Can children come on the tour?
Of course, we welcome families to Smithwick’s Experience Kilkenny. Children / under 18s will receive a complimentary soft drink at the end of the tour, as Smithwick’s is available only to visitors over the age of 18. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
