Detailed Description
Scotland is known all over the globe to produce the finest single malt whisky. Each single malt boasts its unique taste and characteristics that has been influenced by the wonderful natural spring water so abundant throughout the country, and the production methods that have been guarded so well by each distillery to create the subtle differences and intricate flavours that differentiates one malt whisky from the next.
In this 7.5 hour tour you will visit some of Scotland’s best known distilleries to enjoy a dram (or two) of the uisge beatha (meaning “water of life” in the Scots Gaelic), while learning some of the magical secrets that turns those three basic ingredients, barley, water and yeast, into the finest Scotch single malt whisky.
First, you will visit the Glen Moray Distillery in Elgin, which has been producing malt whisky since 1897 and has recently launched their Elgin Heritage range, which comprises of a 12, 15 and 18 year old single malt, to wet your whistle with a tasting. you will then travel through the glorious and lush Spey Valley countryside to catch an insight into how the distillation process creates one of the “world’s most awarded single malt whiskies” on a tour at Glenfiddich Distillery, with a dram or two (or three) of the finished product afterwards.
After lunch you will visit the world renowned Aberlour Whisky Shop before concluding at Glenfarclas Distillery to enjoy the ambiance of the distillery’s beautiful and unique “ship’s room”. The tour will begin and end in front of the Columba Hotel.
