Detailed Description
Located on the lush Caribbean slopes of the Central Volcanic Cordillera, La Danta SALVAJE was founded in 1988 as a private non-profit forest reserve in an effort to protect Costa Rica's rainforest.
We offer 4 days / 3 nights of excursions in the jungle. A three-hour hike from where we leave the 4-wheel drive vehicle to the rustic-style lodge located in the heart of the rainforest.
Day trips, along a trail system originally forged by the wild tapirs, offer visitors the opportunity to experience first hand the stunning display of natural landscapes, waterfalls (one of which measures 150 meters!) And Species of endemic plants of the region, including heliconias, orchids, giant ferns and many others.
Every afternoon, the group returns from the walks to the comfort and safety of the cottage. Located next to one of the many beautiful waterfalls, the cottage offers a spectacular view.
The area is home to a variety of animals, including endangered species such as the tapir, pava, jaguar and silky anteater.

During a visit, a group of visitors had the incredible opportunity to see an eighty-pound puma hunt some spider monkeys in the woods! This is only five minutes away from the hostel.
Groups are limited to a maximum of 8 people and the tour will take place approximately twice a month. In this way there is minimal impact on the fragile ecosystems of the area, and the population of animals in the reserve remains unchanged.
Minimum: 6 people. Maximum: 8 people.
