Detailed Description
This 7 hours bike tour begins with a ride into the South Bronx with your guide, a neighborhood in the midst of transforming from one of the country’s most notoriously dilapidated into a revitalized community with an increasing number of hip bars and galleries.
You will also pass through a surprisingly suburban part of the borough, now without a trace of what, 25 years ago, was compared to a bombed-out Berlin at the end of World War II. Then, at the serene falls of the Bronx River, set against the forests of the Bronx Zoo, you won’t believe you’re still in the city.
Lunch in the Bronx’s Little Italy sets you wandering through an indoor market with hanging sausages, homemade pastas, gourmet sandwiches, and delicious pastries. At Poe Cottage, you learn the story of Edgar Allen Poe’s move to the Bronx and hear a reading of his poem Annabel Lee, written upon the death of his wife in this very home. From there, we visit the magnificent campus of Bronx Community College, home of the first ever “Hall of Fame” and set of the Hollywood movie A Beautiful Mind, ending this amazing tour biking back to the bike shop.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Do you have to be crazy to ride a bike in the big apple?
No, we do it all the time! On the other hand, if you do not know where you are going, you may very well end up riding in rush-hour traffic in midtown or downtown Manhattan (which can be not-so-nice).
-
What is the average age of riders on your tours?
We have riders of all ages on our tours! We have had children as young as eight with their parents, and adults of retirement age. However, there are no bike seats for infants available.
-
What happens if I have a problem on the ride?
Our staff has the tools and the knowledge to repair a flat or fix a minor mechanical problem. If you cannot complete the ride, we will arrange transportation for you and the bike back to the starting location.
