Wilderness Experience
Enjoy a half day tour through the western area of Auckland. Your guide will pick you up at your hotel at 12:30 PM on a bus to travel 30 kilometers to the coastal forest of Ackland and the Waitakere Mountains, while your guide will give an explanation of the history of the forest. You will also visit the Arataki center and enjoy the views and learn about the Maori sculptures and then go to the famous black sand beach. Upon completion your guide will take you back to the hotel.

Detailed Description
On this half day tour, you will be picked up at your hotel at 12:30 PM by your guide on a bus, to begin your journey through nature towards the wild black sand beaches of Auckland and its tropical forest. Auckland's coastal jungle and the Waitakere mountains are only 30 kilometers from downtown Auckland. In just 30 minutes, you will leave behind the noise of the city to enter the tranquility of the rainforest. Your guide will explain the history of the forest that covers this land with its flora and fauna.
You will travel to the Arataki Center located at the top of the Waitakere Mountain Range and enjoy the beautiful panoramic views from the Manukau Port on the Tasman Sea to the resplendent Waitemata harbor on the Pacific Ocean. Learn about the magnificent traditional Maori sculptures that stand guard there.
You will continue towards the tropical jungle where you will walk along paths between the giant ferns that grow next to picturesque streams. You can see the famous kauri trees of New Zealand before continuing to experience the power of the wild west coast. You will feel the black sand of Piha beach under your feet as you walk through one of the most incredible beaches in the world. During the afternoon, a New Zealand-style afternoon tea is included, which includes Anzac biscuits and tea, coffee or juice. At the end of the tour you will return to the same place where you were picked up.
