Detailed Description
During a full day tour, you will be picked up by car in our offices. Once you leave Broome you will travel through a beautiful landscape, while our guide shares stories about local history, people and the environment. You will enjoy a breakfast at Willare Roadhouse on the mighty Fitzroy River.
You will visit Myalls Bore and the famous Derby "Boab Prison Tree", a relic of cultural sensitivity due to its use as a prison for local aborigines during the Kimberley pioneer era.
Then you will travel down Gibb River Road to the picturesque Napier Range, which was once a Devonian reef, these mountains are more than 350 million years old and house a wide variety of animals and plants. It is the perfect place to experience the breathtaking beauty of an indoor natural oasis is Windjana Gorge. Below the walls of the gorge that rise 90 meters, we look for freshwater crocodiles, local and native birds.
Then you will have a picnic lunch and in the afternoon you will explore the Tunnel Creek, a 750 meter cave system where you will discover secret caves and underground wildlife. It is here where you will also know the legend of Jandamarra, a fighter for aboriginal freedom who used the tunnel as a hiding place at the end of the 19th century. You can take a refreshing bath in an idyllic pond. As dusk approaches, you will visit the historic ruins of the Lillimooloora station to see what life would have been like during the first white settlements in the area. After having experienced this tour you will return to the same point where you started in Broome.
